Hey everyone,

Great news! CData has just released Virtuality 4.8, and it’s packed with fantastic new features that could significantly enhance our data virtualization experience. I wanted to share some highlights and start a conversation about how these updates might benefit us.

Resource Governor

One of the standout additions is the new Resource Governor feature. It gives administrators greater control by allowing them to:

• Set user-specific limits on the number of concurrent queries.

• Restrict the size of data retrieved from queries.

• Define maximum query durations for users.

These enhancements aim to optimize resource usage and improve overall system performance.

What are your thoughts on these new resource management capabilities? Do you see this helping to streamline operations in your environment?

Time-Zone Based Job Management

Managing jobs across different time zones can be a challenge, but Virtuality 4.8 introduces a solution:

• Schedule jobs according to account-level or job-specific time zones.

• Automatic adjustments for daylight saving time.

This should make it much easier to coordinate tasks for global teams.

Have you faced scheduling issues due to time zone differences? How might this new feature simplify your job management processes?

Expanded Foreign Function Support

The latest version expands foreign function capabilities to include Snowflake’s native functions:

• Use Snowflake functions directly within Virtuality.

• Functions are pushed down to the source database for optimal efficiency.

• Access to user-defined functions created in Snowflake.

If you’re using Snowflake, how do you think this integration will impact your data operations? Are there specific functions you’re excited to utilize within Virtuality?

New Connectors Added

Virtuality 4.8 also introduces several new connectors:

Apache Kafka: Work with real-time streaming data by integrating Kafka streams directly.

KsqlDB UI Wizard: Easier setup and management with the new user-friendly wizard.

Zoho CRM: Connect to Zoho CRM to enhance your analytics and CRM workflows.

SAP SuccessFactors: Effortlessly integrate HR data to optimize human resource operations.

Active Directory: Streamline authentication and user management with secure access control.

Which of these new connectors are you most interested in? How do you plan to incorporate them into your existing workflows?
