Apple could not verify that mcp server beta app is free of malware

I downloaded the Google Sheets mcp server beta, and the dmg file opened just fine, but after moving the CData MCP Servers for Google Sheets 2025.app file to my /Applications folder and trying to open it, Apple complained that it couldn’t verify it was free of malware.

Anyone else experience?

I saw a different thread suggesting that we allow apps from verified developers as well as the App Store, but I already had that enabled.

Anyone else with the MCP beta apps run into this on MacOS?

I’m excited to try out the mcp servers, but I don’t want to “Open Anyway” as a first response to this.

@mattdrees  Thanks for posting. This is definitely a valid question and we are aware of how this appears. Clicking “Open Anyway” will not put your computer, data, network, etc. at risk in any way.

For what it’s worth, CData’s solutions are trusted by some of the largest software vendors in the world, so we stand by the security of our solutions.

That said, if you have any concerns about continuing, please consult with your IT and/or security team.

Hey Jerod,

Thanks for the note. I do generally trust your company; it’s just I gotta bring it up when doing due diligence.

I take it that CData chooses not to go through apple’s signing process. (Maybe that’s a reasonable choice.)

Is that something that’s on the roadmap/backlog? Or a will-not-fix sort of thing?

Matt
